He is risen! Christ our Saviour,

He is risen from the dead!

Thus spake the angel of the Lord,

As in the Scriptures it is said.

God’s people had forgotten,

His promise of long ago,

And, also, in that “awful hour”

When He did suffer so.

His resurrection was a wonderful fact

Which eye hath not seen nor ear heard,

And no, alas, He was risen,

According to His Holy Word.

Yes, He had power over the grave,

The bands of death were broken;

For in death He conquered victory,

Of which He had often spoken.

He will come again to His people

To assure them that He lives;

He will come in the resurrection,

That we may be where He is.
